STOCKHOLM — The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will present the Nobel Prize in Chemistry on Wednesday in Stockholm.

Last year, three scientists received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for creating novel molecular frameworks capable of capturing large volumes of gas, offering potential pathways to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere or extract moisture from arid regions.

The 2024 Nobel cycle started on Monday with the Medicine prize awarded to three researchers for developing a light‑based tool that illuminates brain activity. The Physics award was conferred on Tuesday to a scientist who advanced understanding of a rare class of subatomic particles known as neutrinos.

The Literature prize will be presented on Thursday, followed by the Peace prize on Friday, while the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences is scheduled for Monday.

Each laureate, whether an individual, a small team, or an organization, will receive a prize of 12 million Swedish kronor (approximately $1.2 million).
