SUKKUR: The much-anticipated train service linking Sukkur and Pannu Aqil is expected to commence within the next few weeks, officials confirmed on Monday. An accompanying e-coaster service between the two cities is also part of the rollout.
Sukkur District Council Chairman Syed Kumail Hyder Shah announced the timeline while inspecting preparations at the Sukkur railway station.
Named Ho Jamalo, the train will depart from the Rohri locoshed and make stops at multiple stations en route to Shikarpur and back.
Shah revealed that a VIP lounge is under construction at the Sukkur railway station for passengers and their families. He also pledged that students would travel free of charge on the new service for the first six months following its launch.

Shah expressed confidence that operations would begin with the start of Muharram, placing the launch window at roughly three to four weeks away.
Pakistan Railways Divisional Superintendent at Sukkur Farman Ghani and other officials briefed the chairman on the progress of the service plan.
“The purpose of today’s visit is to inspect arrangements for the Ho Jamalo train service. Pakistan Railways and the Sukkur District Council have been closely monitoring execution of the plan for the last one year,” he said, noting that the project had reached its final stage.
Responding to local journalists, Shah said: “We will not allow the train’s coaches to be changed … we are in constant touch with the railway authorities in this regard.”
He added that a low-cost motorbike transport service, paired with its ‘Phia’ app, would also be introduced to help students reach their educational institutions quickly and affordably.
