Hong Kong authorities announced that lifts in 74 additional private buildings installed by Taizoom Elevator are missing essential door‑frame components, raising the total number of affected properties to 152.
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department released the updated tally on Sunday evening following a city‑wide inspection of all lifts serviced by Taizoom.
These door‑frame components are designed to protect lift occupants from flames and smoke during a fire, as an expert previously explained.
The department said 150 of the affected premises are private residential or commercial buildings, with the remaining two being public housing estates under the Tenants Purchase Scheme.
