Coast Citrus Distributors, which supplied Taylor Farms with its peppers, recalled its own fresh jalapenos due to salmonella concerns, triggering the recall.
Taylor Farms identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, as the source of the outbreak and clarified that it is no longer sourcing products from this farmer, opting instead to fill orders with alternative suppliers.
“Consumers who have purchased any recalled product are advised to discard it immediately and not consume it, with refunds available at the point of purchase,” the company added.
Contamination from salmonella typically results in illness within 12 to 72 hours, with symptoms including diarrhea, fever, and stomach pain, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall encompasses products such as pico de gallo salsa, various types of guacamole, burritos, spicy sandwiches, and fresh sliced jalapenos.
