Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D‑TX) made a surprise appearance at a Saturday concert to honor musician Chris Brown, who in 2009 pleaded guilty to assaulting his then‑girlfriend, Rihanna.

Crockett, a Dallas‑area lawmaker elected in 2023 and a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, announced she would add Brown’s and Usher’s names to the Congressional Record as a ceremonial tribute at the event in Arlington, Texas. She had previously lost the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate to James Talarico.
