Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have teamed up for the new Apple TV comedy series Brothers, and the accompanying soundtrack features a curated selection of songs, detailed below.
The eight‑episode series portrays the two actors as fictionalized versions of themselves, and their friendship is thrown into turmoil when they learn they may in fact be biological brothers.
Following the breakup of Woody’s daughter’s engagement, he brings his family to Matthew’s Texas ranch, where Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (played by Holland Taylor), unintentionally discloses a decades‑old secret concerning their respective fathers.
The storyline draws on a real‑life anecdote the actors have publicly discussed. In 2023, McConaughey revealed that his mother told him and Harrelson that she “knew” Harrelson’s father while she was separated from her husband, and Harrelson later indicated there was “some truth” to the notion that they might be related.
The series is showrun by Lee Eisenberg and also features Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan, and Oona Yaffe.
The first two episodes premiered on September 23, and a new episode will be released each Wednesday leading up to the finale on November 4.
