Thunder Rosa Discusses Her Impact on the Evolution of AEW’s Women’s Division

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa has recently spoken about her role in shaping the direction of the women’s division.

In an interview with Zach Johnson, Rosa reflected on her Lights Out match with Britt Baker, noting that it helped shift the trajectory of AEW’s women’s division and reminded her of how far she has progressed in her career.

I haven’t competed in a match like that in nearly two years, so it’s surprising that many people have come to know me through some of the most brutal women’s matches in wrestling history.

She noted that the division has expanded since then and referenced the women’s Blood & Guts match from last year. “It was a brutally intense contest, as were several other classic bouts. I don’t single out a favorite moment; rather, there are many highlights in my career—winning titles, capturing a championship in Mexico, defending championships worldwide in places like Japan and London, and collaborating with diverse opponents. It’s always been a rewarding experience,” Rosa concluded.

More than five years ago, in 2021, Rosa defeated Dr. Britt Baker DMD during the AEW Dynamite St. Patrick’s Day Slam episode in an unsanctioned Lights Out match.
