Olivia Rodrigo’s world tour is set to begin next month, kicking off in North America and culminating with a stop at London’s The O2 in April. Full date listings and remaining tickets are available now.
Ticketmaster has recovered tickets for the US and Canada legs of the tour that were acquired through resale platforms and will make them available to fans at face value.
Fans may request these tickets through Ticketmaster immediately; requests will close at 11:59 AM ET today, or 4:59 AM BST tomorrow.
Fans without existing tickets will be given priority for the released allocation. Additionally, $25 “Silver Star” tickets will be available for request starting September 1 at 3:00 PM EST / 8:00 PM BST.
Ticketmaster announced the release yesterday, Thursday, August 20, stating that the tickets originated from purchases that violated sales terms and are now being returned to fans at the tour’s original face-value pricing.
In 2023, Olivia Rodrigo’s collaborator and hero, The Cure’s Robert Smith, announced that 7,000 tickets recovered from secondary resale platforms would be cancelled to combat ticket touting.
Also in 2023, Smith successfully encouraged Ticketmaster to issue partial refunds to verified buyers regarding what were described as unduly high service fees.
Ticket touting has become a pressing issue in the music industry. Earlier this year, the UK government unveiled plans to prohibit the resale of live event tickets above face value, impose caps on platform fees, and levy fines of up to 10 percent of a company’s global turnover.
As of yet, the proposed legislation has not been enacted. Ahead of the May King’s Speech, artists and music industry bodies cautioned against a potential reversal, and the measure ultimately emerged only as a draft bill, a development that drew disappointment from across the sector.
An investigation conducted in July revealed that 72 percent of StubHub UK’s arena listings were attributable to just three bulk sellers. Additionally, a month prior, the Competition and Markets Authority fined StubHub UK £900,000 and mandated refunds for over 50,000 customers after determining that mandatory fees had not been displayed upfront.
Reports from earlier this month indicate that StubHub has invested millions of dollars in lobbying efforts to oppose legislation proposing caps on ticket resale prices.
In other news, Rodrigo is launching her all-female Daisy Chain Fields festival, featuring performances by Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Garbage and more, scheduled for August 29.
NME awarded Rodrigo’s latest album, ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love,’ four-and-a-half stars, writing: “Here is a major popstar who is not afraid to get weirder and more wonderful, to give even more of themselves over in their art. ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’ is undeniable evidence of Rodrigo’s growth: as a songwriter, composer, and as a human being.”
A fan recently revealed that Rodrigo demonstrated kindness to a stranger by quietly covering the cost of their final semester of college.
