Emergency services responded to the Ginza Six luxury shopping complex in central Tokyo following an incident where a man sprayed an unidentified substance, resulting in injuries to several shoppers.
Video footage showed fire engines, police officers, and emergency personnel surrounding the mall, with stretchers transported from the scene and road closures implemented in the upscale Ginza district.
Japanese authorities confirmed the incident occurred near an ATM area within the building, leaving approximately 20 people experiencing symptoms including throat irritation. Nineteen individuals were transported to hospital, all remaining conscious throughout the incident.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the substance deployment and the extent of injuries sustained.
