Tom Jones Alleges Dismissal From ‘The Voice UK’ Stemmed from Insurance “Financial Difficulty”

Sir Tom Jones is renowned for his powerful baritone, and he has now wielded his voice to publicly challenge ITV’s decision to dismiss him from The Voice UK.

In an Instagram post, the Welsh singer asserted that he was terminated from his coaching position on The Voice due to a “financial difficulty with insurance.”

Jones did not provide further details on the matter, but implied that ITV was incorrect to report his removal was driven by a creative refresh.

“They are offering a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I’m not thrilled about that,” Jones stated.

“So the only thing I know right now, is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job,” he remarked.

ITV has yet to comment on the changes to The Voice, but The Sun newspaper reported that Cheryl—formerly known as Cheryl Tweedy and Cheryl Cole—is being considered as Jones’ replacement.

The Sun added that Will.i.am and Kelly Rowland will return as coaches. Additionally, Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon are set to assume hosting duties from Emma Willis, who is currently presenting Strictly Come Dancing.

ITV has been approached for comment.

Jones has served as a coach on The Voice since its inaugural season on the BBC in 2012, with his acts claiming victory in the competition three times over those 14 years.
