Tony Bellew is bucking the trend ahead of tonight’s Daniel Dubois versus Fabio Wardley rematch.

The two heavyweights meet again just five months after their electrifying first bout, with Dubois now holding the WBO title following an eleventh-round stoppage victory over Wardley.

After weathering two early knockdowns, the Londoner—now in his second reign as heavyweight champion—seized control with a crisp jab and relentless combinations that wore down Wardley.

Although the Ipswich fighter remained on his feet, referee Howard Foster stepped in to wave off the contest as the punishment became too severe.

That conclusion, along with Dubois’ dominance in the later rounds, positions him as the clear favorite to retain his belt.

Speaking to the BBC, former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew backed Wardley to find early success once more, but this time capitalize fully and finish the fight.

“I’m going to be the difference. I am going to back Fabio Wardley by knockout within six rounds. Yep, I said [it]. I’m going for Fab within six.”

Dubois hit the canvas within ten seconds last time and took a knee in the third round after being hurt again.

Bellew has previously questioned Dubois’ resolve, citing his stoppage loss to Joe Joyce as evidence of a limit he is unwilling to push past. Still, many will point to the first Wardley encounter and disagree.

Both fighters weighed in at career-high weights, suggesting neither intends to adopt a more cautious approach. Instead, they appear poised to engage from the opening bell at London’s O2 Arena tonight.
