At least two people were killed in a shooting incident during a street festival in Toronto on Saturday evening. Police responded to reports of an active shooter on St. Clair Avenue around 8:12 PM local time, where the annual Salsa on St Clair Latin festival was taking place.
Authorities found six individuals with gunshot wounds at the scene, two of whom were pronounced dead. A significant police presence has secured the area, though the suspect or suspects remain at large.
St. Clair Avenue, known for its shops and restaurants in midtown Toronto, was hosting the festival’s 22nd iteration between July 11 and 12, featuring live music and dance performances. Police have urged the public to avoid the immediate vicinity during the ongoing investigation.
