Ferran Torres scored twice in his Paris Saint-Germain debut to help the French defending champions secure a 2-2 draw at Rennes in their league opener on Sunday.

Torres, who joined PSG from Barcelona following his decisive goal for Spain in the World Cup final last month, entered as a substitute and found the net in the 71st and 82nd minutes, preventing his new club from suffering consecutive opening defeats.

Both goals were set up by Torres’ Spain teammate Fabian Ruiz.

Sebastian Szymanski and Esteban Lepaul had given visiting Rennes an early advantage with first-half strikes.

The comeback secured PSG a point after their penalty shootout defeat to Lens in the French Super Cup final.
