Tovah Feldshuh, star of “Nobody Wants This,” has responded following Adam Brody’s remarks calling for a “Free Palestine” during a recent GQ interview.
Brody, who portrays Rabbi Noah Roklov on the Netflix series, explained that while he had not publicly addressed the Israel-Gaza conflict, the topic frequently arises in private conversations. He stated: “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” adding, “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have happened much earlier.”
Feldshuh told The New York Post: “To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and make the victim the perpetrator.” She emphasized that when such accusations come from Jewish individuals, “it makes a difference to the Jewish community.”
She continued: “I believe the perseverance of the state of Israel is crucial to the well-being of the democratic and free world. Of course, Israel needs the United States, but the United States needs Israel, believe me.” Feldshuh also warned: “We’re in a time where we have the ‘horseshoe effect,’ where socialism and antisemitism are trying to meet.”
Feldshuh, who plays Bina Roklov—the mother of Brody’s character—said: “My job, as Bina but also as Tovah, is to love the people on set at my place of work, to be kind.”
Earlier this month, “Nobody Wants This” creator Erin Foster addressed Brody’s support for Palestine, stating: “I disagree with him, and that’s OK.”
Foster, a guest on the “Not Skinny but Not Fat” podcast, remarked: “You know, it’s complicated.” She described the set environment as similar to dinner tables worldwide, where people debate and disagree. “While I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK,” she said.
