After a robust box-office performance, Toy Story 5 is now available for purchase on major digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The film explores timely themes surrounding technology’s impact, introduced through the new character Lilypad—a smart tablet toy that pits Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their low-tech allies against modern challenges.
Helmed by Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton, director of Finding Nemo and WALL‑E, Toy Story 5 has surpassed $1 billion globally, marking the first new franchise installment since 2019. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack reprise their roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, with newcomers Conan O’Brien and Greta Lee joining the cast. The film also features notable musical moments, including Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” and a cameo from Bad Bunny.
Disney has confirmed that the physical media release for Toy Story 5 will arrive on September 22, available in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. A special Steelbook edition with a variant cover is also offered, alongside a five‑movie box set collecting the entire franchise.
Physical releases include a wealth of bonus content, such as behind‑the‑scenes featurettes with Conan O’Brien and Greta Lee, making‑of material from the filmmakers and animators, a gag reel, and deleted scenes. The digital purchase includes music and lyric videos for Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which will not be available on physical formats.
Regarding a Disney+ streaming date, Disney has not yet announced a specific release timetable. However, following prior franchise release patterns, Toy Story 5 is expected to arrive on the streaming platform in late September or early October.
Pixar’s next announced project is 2027’s Gatto, an original film starring Mark Ruffalo and Laurence Fishburne.
