A broadcast captures Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh discussing Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decisions on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) floor in New York, US, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Economists and investors received their latest glimpse into the Federal Reserve’s revamped communication strategy with the release of the Wednesday FOMC statement.
Below is a comparison between Wednesday’s FOMC statement and the one from the prior June meeting.

Wednesday’s release marked the second statement under Chairman Warsh, who has pledged a major overhaul of how the Fed communicates its monetary policy expectations to the public.
The prior June statement provided an initial look at the communication style under Warsh’s direction.
June’s version featured roughly 130 words, a significant decrease compared to the over 300 words recorded in recent meetings, according to a CNBC analysis. It omitted forward guidance and FOMC voting tallies, both of which were standard elements under former chair Jerome Powell.
Warsh acknowledged a “difference” during his first press conference as chair in June, stating that forward guidance was “not well suited for the current policy conjuncture.”
“It is a bit shorter, a bit simpler and it dispenses with some older language,” Warsh noted in June. “That statement just gives you the facts, as best we can judge it.”
Previously, investors thoroughly analyzed the formulaic releases for subtle linguistic shifts signaling changes in policy views. However, since last month’s release, traders have questioned whether the Fed plans to adopt a new, shorter template or if each statement will vary significantly from meeting to meeting.
Some analysts on Wall Street have begun utilizing artificial intelligence-powered tools to decipher messages from the Warsh-led central bank.
Warsh announced in June that he was establishing task forces to review key Fed operations. He mentioned earlier this month that University of Washington professor Peter Fisher and former Bank of England Governor Mervin King are members of the communication-focused group.
