BAJAUR: A child lost his life and a woman was wounded in a suspected quadcopter attack in the War Mamund tehsil of Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday, according to police sources cited by Dawn.
The sources indicated that the incident took place in the Inam Khoro Chinagi area, where a suspected quadcopter drone was thought to have been launched from an unidentified location.
They further reported that the residence of resident Hayatullah was hit, resulting in the death of his nine‑year‑old son, Mehran, and the injury of a 35‑year‑old family member, Tahira Bibi.
The child’s remains and the injured woman were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, the sources said.
A police official noted that a team arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported and gathered evidence. “An investigation is now under way,” he added.
In recent months, multiple quadcopter attacks have been reported in Bajaur, including one that occurred last month.
On May 21, two schoolchildren were killed when a quadcopter drone, reportedly launched from an unknown location, struck a hilly area of Bajaur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
