Authentic footage captured inside a Canadian National Railway locomotive near Armstrong, Ontario, on Monday 13 July shows a train crew navigating through intense wildfire flames that engulfed the tracks and lit the cabin windows with an orange glow. The images underscore the severity of the rapidly expanding wildfire in northern Ontario, with visibility nearly completely blocked by thick smoke.
Canadian National Railway (CN) reported that three freight trains were halted approximately 32 kilometres from Armstrong after fire reached the tracks. The trains were transporting flammable materials, necessitating an emergency stoppage and full evacuation of crews. No injuries were recorded during the incident.
The event occurred simultaneously with over 160 active wildfires across Ontario, prompting evacuations in multiple regions. The footage has intensified discussions about rail safety under extreme fire conditions, with union leader François Laporte arguing that no cargo justifies endangering workers’ safety.”
