The court heard that police have yet to take a statement from Anthony Joshua following the fatal crash.
During cross-examination, Kayode’s lawyer questioned Ajayi regarding the absence of a statement. Ajayi replied that efforts are ongoing and noted that he had not contacted Joshua because he did not have his phone number.
The trial has been adjourned until September 10th.
Joshua, who was born in Watford, has ancestral roots in Sagamu, a town in Ogun State situated near the crash site.
Following the collision, the boxer took to social media to post a tribute to Ghami and Ayodele.
“I didn’t even realize how special they are,” he wrote in his tribute.
“I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.”
“One hundred percent, it is tough for me, but I know it is even tougher for their parents.”
