Trip.com Group Limited (TCOM, 9961.HK) announced receipt of an administrative penalty decision from China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
Reports indicate that SAMR imposed a penalty of roughly ¥5.2 billion (about $765 million) on Trip.com for abusing its dominant position in online hotel bookings, which included confiscating illegal gains, levying a fine, and ordering refunds to hotel operators.
Trip.com said it accepts the decision and will implement corrective measures in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, reaffirming its commitment to long‑term governance improvements and the sustainable development of the travel sector.
