Triple H has just made a huge statement.
Professional wrestling has always been this sacred art form that has tried to present itself as a legitimate sport. Therefore, a lot of wrestlers have gone to great lengths to protect the business by constantly remaining in character.
However, since the advent of social media, this curtain has been slowly pulled back every year. Several stars often break character online. Additionally, several viral photos and videos have been released that often showcase wrestlers breaking character. WWE took this a step further with their Netflix series Unreal, where they completely pulled the curtain back to show fans what goes into their product. This has gotten the company a lot of backlash, especially from several legends of the industry who feel that the company is giving away too much to the fans.
Triple H challenges legacy wrestlers for consistency
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Triple H said that the business has changed a lot over the years and fans already know what goes on behind the scenes. He is just opening that gate wide open with WWE Unreal.
“It’s a funny thing now, though, because of the business, because the paradigm has shifted to some degree. Everybody kind of knows what it is. We’ve opened that wide open with WWE Unreal.”
He continued to call out old-timers for being hypocrites since they criticize WWE for giving away too much while they are doing the exact same thing on their podcasts. The Game questioned how it is okay when they do it.
“It does make me laugh, though, when I see the old-timers who are legends in our business talking about, ‘They give away too much, and they tell people the insider stuff too much.’ Meanwhile, they’re on a podcast where they do exactly that every single day, and they have been doing it for years.
