The White House announced on Wednesday that Donald Trump is seeking to transform his upscale Florida golf course into a presidential retreat modeled after the historic Camp David facility.
Under the proposal, the Trump International Club in West Palm Beach — a venue where the 80-year-old former president frequently spends weekends — would become an official retreat for future commanders-in-chief.
“The United States government has requested an evaluation of developing a presidential retreat at Trump International Golf Course in Palm Beach, enabling future presidents to conduct high-level meetings and access world-class amenities,” a White House official said on condition of anonymity.
The official highlighted the existing security infrastructure at Trump’s property, where gunman Ryan Routh was convicted in September 2024 for attempting to assassinate the then-presidential candidate.
