Despite efforts to move forward, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart found himself pulled back into the spotlight after former President Donald Trump publicly supported him.
Through his social media platform Truth Social, Trump defended Dart following criticism over his decision to introduce the former president at a May 22 rally.
“Thank you Jaxson!” Trump wrote. “I know you’re taking some heat from the Radical Left Lunatics who are jealous of you, me, and everyone who surrounds us, but your jersey also went to Number One, and you’re making Millions of Dollars so, YOU ARE A WINNER.”
The involvement from Trump complicates Dart’s attempt to put the incident behind him. While recognizing political advantage from the situation among his base, Trump appears undeterred by potential locker room friction for the young quarterback.
Dart faces consequences for his decision to bring Trump onto the stage, which drew objections from teammates and created controversy around his judgment.
