ANKARA, Aug 20 (Reuters) — Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar on Thursday strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, stating in a joint declaration that Israel must adhere to its obligations under the ceasefire agreement and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
The three mediating nations emphasized that the escalation of Israeli attacks undermines regional and international efforts at a critical moment, as intensive work continues to implement the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. This includes the meeting between the Board of Peace and Israeli officials, with constructive steps underway in the negotiation process.
The international community and the Board of Peace must take necessary measures to ensure compliance with the ceasefire and prevent further escalation, they added.
