Rescue crews in Nepal extracted two workers alive from a hydropower tunnel nine days after devastating floods inundated the nation, resulting in over 1,000 fatalities and thousands still missing.
Nepalese legislator Shri Ram Neupane informed the Associated Press that rescuers first heard voices inside the tunnel on Friday morning. Photographs released by the Nepal Army depict a responder carrying one of the workers on his back, flanked by soldiers on both sides.
The development has sparked hope that dozens of others believed to be trapped may still be rescued. One of the saved workers indicated that additional individuals remain alive inside the tunnel, said Brigadier General Raja Ram Basnet, who added that search operations continue.

“I cannot put into words what we are feeling right now; we are simply thankful to God,” said Amir Maharjan, brother of one of the rescued workers, to the Associated Press.
Both individuals were airlifted to a hospital in Kathmandu, with one listed in critical condition, according to the Associated Press, citing a statement from the prime minister’s office.
Officials identified the survivors as a mechanical foreman and a mechanical supervisor at the Trishuli-3A facility.

The Associated Press reported that roughly 115 individuals are believed to remain trapped in the Trishuli-3A tunnel alone, according to the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal.
In total, authorities say approximately 900 workers are missing from twelve hydropower plants across Nepal, with around 500 suspected to be confined in tunnels.
Nepal’s Communication Minister Bikram Timilsina posted on his Facebook page that officials “are awaiting the rescue of additional individuals.”
“A sincere thank you to everyone who labored relentlessly day and night to save those two individuals,” Timilsina added.

The Associated Press reported that at least 1,287 people have died and more than 5,000 remain missing following the August 26 floods, which scientists suspect were likely triggered by a glacier collapse.
Chinese authorities said on Wednesday that, on the Tibet side of the border, 21 people were killed and 541 remain missing.
Nepal’s disaster agency chief told Reuters on Friday that the flooding likely caused damage amounting to at least 387.5 billion Nepalese rupees (approximately $2.5 billion) to infrastructure and property.
The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.

Must protect all media: there are no media tags in the provided snippet, only tags. So we keep them as is (but rewrite content). Must rewrite headline to be unique, fresh, professional. Original: “Trump Plans to Use Qatari Jet for Another Overseas Flight Despite Security Concerns”. Need new headline. We need to rewrite the surrounding news story body text into natural, high-quality, professional English. Keep HTML tags unchanged (class attributes). So we need to produce new content but same class names. The original had multiple tags; we need to rewrite each paragraph’s content, but keep the tags. We must ensure we don’t alter any HTML media tags, but there are none. So just rewrite the paragraph texts. Let’s rewrite each paragraph: Paragraph 1: “President Trump is planning to take the Boeing luxury jet donated by the Qataris when he travels to Ireland next week, the first time he will use the plane overseas since questions were raised about its defensive capabilities, a senior administration official said on Friday.” We can rewrite: “President Trump intends to travel to Ireland next week aboard the Boeing luxury jet provided by Qatar, marking the first overseas use of the aircraft since concerns were raised about its defensive capabilities, according to a senior administration official.” Paragraph 2: “Mr. Trump had said several weeks ago that the plane would be taken out of service for roughly a month for new security upgrades. It is unclear whether there have been any upgrades or any are still planned.” Rewrite: “Earlier, Mr. Trump indicated that the aircraft would be temporarily removed from service for about a month to undergo new security upgrades, though it remains uncertain whether those upgrades have been completed or are still scheduled.” Paragraph 3: “The Washington Post reported earlier on Mr. Trump’s plans to use the Qatari plane. A senior White House official, speaking on background, would not comment on specific upgrades to Air Force One.” Rewrite: “The Washington Post previously reported on Mr. Trump’s intention to use the Qatari‑donated aircraft, and a senior White House official, speaking anonymously, declined to discuss the specifics of any Air Force One upgrades.” Paragraph 4: “The plane was retrofitted quickly to be pushed into service for Mr. Trump to use during his current term, after two new jets commissioned from Boeing for presidential travel were badly delayed. But those planes are built from the ground up as essentially flying presidential command centers, with extensive capabilities to fend off missile strikes.” Rewrite: “The jet was rapidly retrofitted to enter service for Mr. Trump’s current term after two newly commissioned Boeing aircraft for presidential travel faced significant delays; those newer jets are purpose‑built from the ground up as airborne presidential command centers equipped with extensive missile‑defense capabilities.” Paragraph 5: “The Qatari jet’s safety capabilities came into question after Mr. Trump last used it on a foreign trip, to the NATO summit in Turkey in July. Mr. Trump declared that he would fly on one of the older presidential aircraft for his departure, instead of the Qatari jet that he had flown into Europe with, for “old time’s sake.”” Rewrite: “Concerns about the Qatari jet’s safety emerged after Mr. Trump’s last foreign trip, the NATO summit in Turkey in July. He announced he would depart on an older presidential aircraft rather than the Qatari jet, citing “old time’s sake.”” Paragraph 6: “Multiple people with knowledge of the matter said that there had been a security concern about him flying aboard the Qatari plane. The New York Times reported that the Qatari jet lacked defensive capabilities that the older models have.” Rewrite: “Several individuals familiar with the situation said there were security concerns about using the Qatari aircraft, and The New York Times noted that the jet lacked the defensive capabilities found on older models.” Paragraph 7: “People briefed on the matter later said that officials had learned of a threat to the president and Air Force One while they were in Turkey, prompting the switch.” Rewrite: “Subsequent briefings indicated that officials had become aware of a threat to the president and Air Force One while in Turkey, leading to the decision to switch aircraft.” Paragraph 8: “Although he boarded the older plane at the Ankara, Turkey, airport, it later emerged that the president had been whisked off it and onto a military jet, leaving the older Air Force One aircraft as a decoy flight.” Rewrite: “Although he initially boarded the older aircraft at Ankara’s airport, it later became clear that he was transferred to a military jet, leaving the older Air Force One plane serving only as a decoy.” We must keep class attributes same: class=”css-12m5bll evys1bk0″. So each will have that class. Now we need to output: [TITLE]New headline
