The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert on Saturday warning of a potential “mass casualty event” at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve.
“The U.S. Embassy in Moscow is aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event today, October 31, at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in Moscow, located at Dolskaya Ulitsa 1, Moscow, Russia, 11569,” the embassy stated. “The U.S. government is coordinating with appropriate Russian authorities on a response.”
The alert urged the public to avoid the Tsaritsyno Museum area and advised people to remain vigilant and steer clear of crowds.
Established in 1775 as a summer residence for Catherine II, the Tsaritsyno Museum is now a major tourist destination in Russia’s capital.

The museum recorded more than two million visitors in 2022, according to Moscow Deputy Mayor Natalya Sergunina, who disclosed the figure in 2023. The surrounding grounds, which are popular with local residents for exercise and dog walking, experience even higher foot traffic, The Art Newspaper reported.
Beyond the threat warning, the embassy advised individuals in the Moscow area to keep mobile devices and batteries charged, maintain situational awareness, and review personal security plans.
The security alert was issued amid escalating hostilities in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
