U.S. prosecutors have leveled fresh criminal charges against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, accusing them of orchestrating the torture of political opponents and American citizens. The indictment supplements existing drug-trafficking charges that already carry a potential mandatory minimum sentence of 50 years.
