Uber announced on Wednesday that it is shutting down its services in Nigeria, ending a presence that spanned more than twelve years in the continent’s largest population and third‑largest economy.
The drivers, representing the San Francisco‑based multinational ride‑hailing platform, reported that they were informed of the closure in real time with minimal notice. A few passengers told local news outlets that they were using Uber when they received the notification.
