In a unique blend of celebration, U.S. President Donald Trump is organizing a UFC mixed martial arts event at the White House grounds to mark his 80th birthday and the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Construction of an octagon-shaped fighting cage on the White House lawn has already commenced ahead of the upcoming event, which will showcase top-tier UFC athletes.
Trump’s involvement with combat sports dates back to 2019 when he became the first sitting U.S. president to attend a UFC event.
The card for this special White House showdown is scheduled to feature two title fights, including a heavyweight matchup between France’s Ciryl Gane and Brazil’s Alex Pereira, alongside Spanish-Georgian champion Ilia Topuria.
To accommodate attendees, the UFC intends to provide tens of thousands of complimentary tickets, while nearby outdoor screens will extend viewing opportunities for additional spectators.
Online communities have expressed divided opinions about the event’s fight card, with some critics noting the absence of prominent figures like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor from the planned lineup.
