The UFC returns to China this weekend, concluding a busy August with Fight Night 286 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.
The main event pits third‑ranked Umar Nurmagomedov against sixth‑ranked Song Yadong in a five‑round bantamweight bout. Both fighters are coming off victories over former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo; Nurmagomedov won a decision in January, while Song submitted him in May. This fight is viewed as a potential title eliminator.
In the co‑main event, former title challenger Yan Xiaonan battles Denise Gomes in a strawweight clash. The main card also features a bantamweight showdown between Aoriqileng and Kai Asakura, a flyweight rematch between Alex Perez and Sumudaerji, and a flyweight opener with prospects Bilal Hasan and Nilson Rojas.
The preliminary card is headlined by a welterweight contest between Ding Meng and Cameron Nelson. Additional prelim bouts include a women’s strawweight fight between Jingnan Xiong and Julia Polastri, bantamweight matches of Lawrence Lui vs. Hector Santiago and Xiao Long vs. Francesco Nuzzi, a featherweight clash of Jack Jenkins vs. Sean Woodson, flyweight encounters Rei Tsuruya vs. Kevin Borjas and Namsrai Batbayar vs. Andre Lima.
The main card opens with flyweights Bilal Hasan (9‑0) facing Nilson Rojas (9‑0), followed by a light‑heavyweight matchup of Ce Liu against Levi Rodrigues Jr., the rematch between Alex Perez and Sumudaerji, bantamweight bout Aoriqileng vs. Kai Asakura, women’s strawweight fight Yan Xiaonan vs. Denise Gomes, and the headlining bantamweight battle Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Song Yadong.
