LONDON — Defence Secretary Wes Streeting cautioned on Monday against drawing premature conclusions regarding the motives of five individuals arrested near a British airbase used by American forces. His remarks came in response to questions about potential Iranian involvement in the incident.

Counter-terrorism police detained the men on Sunday on suspicion of explosives and terrorism-related offences after receiving reports that three vans were heading toward the military installation. The base has previously served as a launch point for strikes against Iranian targets.
