The United Kingdom is set to welcome its inaugural live-action historical theme park, Kynren – The Storied Lands, on 18 July, offering a unique blend of history, performance, and interactive storytelling. Located in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, the attraction promises to transport visitors through key moments in England’s past, from ancient battles to Victorian innovation.
Originally launched as an outdoor night show in 2016, Kynren has evolved into a full-day experience featuring five major performances and immersive zones. The expansion includes a reconstructed Viking settlement complete with a blacksmith’s forge, combat-ready warriors, and artisans crafting traditional goods.
Highlights of Kynren – The Storied Lands
Visitors can explore a range of themed experiences, including The Trusty Steed, showcasing medieval knights performing stunts, and The Lost Feather, which combines wildlife and performance with trained eagles, vultures, and owls. Other attractions include Land of the Vikings, featuring dramatic duels, Legend of the Wear, a lakeside tale inspired by the Lambton Worm myth, and Victorian Imaginariums, an interactive outdoor maze filled with period characters.
The park’s expansive sets include a medieval hamlet and Viking encampment, with plans to introduce a Victorian Village next year, featuring over 40 historically inspired homes and shops. Guests can also enjoy themed dining options, such as a three-course meal blending Tudor-style appetizers, Viking-inspired mains, and Victorian sweets.
Kynren – The Storied Lands opens on 18 July and will operate until 12 September. Tickets grant access to all scheduled shows and experiences, providing a comprehensive journey through England’s storied past.
