The Ukrainian military on Tuesday confirmed striking a critical railway bridge spanning the North Crimean canal in occupied Crimea.
Via Telegram, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SOF) stated the North Crimean canal bridge “no longer exists,” emphasizing its destruction as a blow to Russian military operations.
SOF highlighted the bridge’s role as a “strategic military and logistical artery” enabling the transport of cargo, resources, and military supplies between annexed Crimea and mainland Russia across the Kerch Strait.
Crimea, internationally recognized as Ukrainian territory, was annexed by Russia in 2014, prompting sanctions from the U.S. and European Union. The region remains strategically significant due to its Black Sea location and use as a Russian attack hub since the invasion began in February 2022.
