UK’s Burnham Congratulates US and Denmark on Landmark Greenland Security Deal

Andy Burnham has congratulated Denmark and the United States on a deal designed to strengthen security in the Arctic, following an agreement between the two nations over Greenland.

According to a Downing Street readout, the Prime Minister and his Danish counterpart, Mette Frederiksen, welcomed the United States’ commitment to the region during a call on Sunday morning. The leaders began by discussing their upcoming visits to New York for the UN General Assembly (UNGA), with the Prime Minister stating he would use the trip to advance key domestic priorities, including reducing the cost of living through greater global stability and enhancing public security via closer international partnerships.

Turning to defense and security, the two leaders also discussed the forthcoming signing of a new deal to strengthen security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic area between the United States, Greenland, and Denmark.
