UN Cautions That Attacks on Libya’s Oil Infrastructure May Justify Sanctions

TRIPOLI — The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) warned on Saturday that assaults on Libya’s energy infrastructure, or any activities threatening its integrity, could warrant sanctions under applicable UN Security Council resolutions.

The alert follows the continued shutdown of the Sharara-Zawiya oil pipeline, which has curtailed crude output and public revenues while heightening concerns over fuel availability and electricity generation, the mission stated.
