The United Nations restated on Monday its condemnation of ongoing cross‑border attacks by Yemeni Houthi forces against Saudi Arabia, including attempted strikes targeting Riyadh, Anadolu reports.
UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric emphasized that they remain deeply concerned about the continuing military escalation in and around Yemen, including Houthi offensives in Taiz, Lahij, and Marib, which have severe consequences for civilians in Yemen and the wider region, he told reporters.
Dujarric noted that the cross‑border strikes have hit civilian neighborhoods and critical energy facilities throughout the kingdom, and he urged all parties to exercise restraint and avert further escalation.
Recent Houthi cross‑border attacks have resulted in injuries to civilians in southern Saudi Arabia, and renewed hostilities inside Yemen have disrupted shipping lanes and displaced local populations.
