England’s Nations League League A campaign is progressing smoothly, whereas Wales has faced more challenges.

Wales sit in a challenging group alongside Portugal, Denmark and Norway, having earned three points from four matches after a 2-1 victory over Norway in Cardiff.

Having already secured a quarter‑final berth, Portugal leaves Wales needing almost maximum points from their remaining fixtures against Norway and Portugal to keep any hope of reaching the last eight alive.

Finishing third would send Wales into a March play‑off to avoid relegation, whereas finishing bottom would mean automatic demotion to League B.

Like England, Scotland have three matches left, opening with a home clash against Slovenia at Hampden Park on Tuesday.

Currently third in League B1, Scotland trail Slovenia only on goal difference; a win under manager Sebastien Pocognoli would lift them above Slovenia and into second place behind Switzerland before the November window.

Scotland’s second‑to‑last game is against bottom‑placed North Macedonia; victories in their next two fixtures would virtually guarantee a top‑two finish ahead of the final showdown with Switzerland, who are on course to claim the automatic promotion place.

Northern Ireland have enjoyed a productive international break, recording two wins, two draws and keeping clean sheets across their four Group B2 matches.

They lead the group by a single point, with upcoming games against bottom‑placed Georgia and second‑placed Hungary.

If Northern Ireland defeat Georgia while Hungary fail to overcome Ukraine in the first November round, they will clinch first place and promotion outright; should both teams win, the sides would meet in a final‑day decider for the promotion spot.

The Republic of Ireland occupy third place in Group B3 after collecting five points from their opening four fixtures.

Their last two matches are against the group leaders Austria and Kosovo; victories in both would secure a top‑two finish and keep them in contention for first place, contingent on goal difference and the outcome of Austria’s clash with Israel.
