Universal Achieves $5 Billion Milestone as First Studio to Surpass Global YTD Revenue
After breaking away from the $4 billion barrier at the 2026 box office, Universal has made another historic leap by pushing the global tally past $5 billion.
Domestically, Universal registers $1.788 billion while international collections reach $3.218 billion.
This triumph represents the third time in the company’s history that it has crossed the $5 billion threshold within a single calendar year. It keeps the studio 29 percent above its actualized 2025 total of $3.89 billion, and adds another milestone just over a decade after the company first hit this level in 2017.
The record follows strong support from Christopher Nolan and Universal’s highest-grossing release to date, *The Odyssey* (now exceeding $1.73 billion). Other contributors include *Super Mario Galaxy Movie* (over $1 billion), *Michael* (upward $656.4 million internationally), focus feature *Observation* (the studio’s top performer at $519 million), and *Minions & Monsters* ($523.6 million).
Three of the five films that broke the $1 billion barrier this year originated from Universal.
Additional statistics highlight the scope of the milestone: five Universal productions rank among the ten world’s biggest box‑office draws of 2026 — *The Odyssey* (#2), *Michael* (#4), *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* (#5), *Minions & Monsters* (#8) and *Observation* (#9).
The studio has also taken the global weekend box‑office lead for eleven straight weekends.
