The US military confirmed ongoing operations targeting Iranian military assets for the seventh straight night following President Donald Trump’s declaration that a temporary ceasefire agreement was “void.”
According to a statement from US Central Command (Centcom), the strikes aim to “continue degrading Iranian military capabilities under the Commander in Chief’s directives.”
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) alleged that two oil tankers were destroyed in the Strait of Hormuz after navigating a mined section of the waterway, a claim Centcom swiftly refuted on X, stating: “Like most IRGC claims, this is false.”
Reports from Iranian state media indicated explosions in Yazd, Qeshm Island, and Bandar Abbas, located near the strategic strait. Normal shipping operations through the critical waterway, which handles roughly 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas trade, have largely ceased amid escalating hostilities.
On Friday, Iran’s military announced strikes on US installations across the Gulf region, including locations in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Syria, actions the US government denied. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti officials confirmed Iranian drone attacks injured personnel and damaged infrastructure, including a power plant and desalination facilities.
Sources cited by CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, reported Iranian attacks on two Jordanian bases resulted in injuries to American service members. The US rejected Iran’s prior assertions of strikes on civilian sites in Hormozgan province, where local authorities confirmed seven fatalities.
Verified footage by BBC shows damage to the Gariveh Bridge, with daylight images revealing collapsed road sections and scorched debris. A White House spokesperson reiterated that US operations targeted “military logistics infrastructure” exclusively.
The latest strikes mark one week of nightly US operations after diplomatic negotiations collapsed, underscoring ongoing tensions over control of maritime routes in the Persian Gulf.
