Dubai — The U.S. military announced on Saturday that it had disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman after its crew ignored warnings and attempted to breach an ongoing naval blockade imposed by Iran.
“A U.S. military fighter jet hit the stern of the Panama-flagged M/V Ocean Molica, also known as the Arika Sun, using a precision munition that disabled the ship’s propulsion while leaving the crew unharmed,” the U.S. Central Command said on X.
CENTCOM added that the cargo ship had been trying to navigate regional waters after departing from an Iranian port.
