Finland-based Valmet has secured a significant order from Sun Paper to provide a complete containerboard production line, comprehensive automation systems, and lifecycle support services for the company’s facility in Nanning, China. The new machinery is designed to enhance Sun Paper’s containerboard capacity while ensuring energy-efficient and resource-conserving operations.
The board machine, scheduled for commissioning in late 2027, integrates cutting-edge technologies, automation solutions, and support services to enable reliable, high-volume production of kraft and testliner grades. Valmet’s scope includes a full production line, from headboxes to winders, featuring regionally unique innovations such as Sleeve Roll technology, which optimizes dewatering efficiency in the forming section through fabric compression and smart energy use.
The dryer section incorporates a compact geometry to improve drying efficiency and machine runnability, while two advanced winders ensure production reliability, capacity targets, and superior roll quality. Lifecycle services, including spare parts, digital solutions, and paper machine clothing, will further support long-term performance and operational stability.
Additionally, the agreement includes upgrades to existing machinery at Sun Paper’s facilities. The order aligns with Sun Paper’s sustainability goals, as highlighted by Vice-General Manager Ying Guangdong, who emphasized the system’s role in achieving energy-efficient, stable production and reduced consumption.
Recently, Valmet also unveiled its 3D Fiber technology, aimed at producing lightweight, rigid molded fiber packaging solutions from cellulose fibers, expanding its portfolio in sustainable packaging.
