Emergency responders in Venezuela continue urgent rescue operations to free a man trapped in the rubble of a collapsed building for eight days. Over the past 72 hours, international teams from seven countries have worked without pause to extract 43-year-old Hernan Gil, a security guard buried in his booth in the coastal city of Catia La Mar. Officials describe his survival as miraculous. The government has confirmed at least 2,295 fatalities and over 11,000 injuries from the earthquake. The United Nations has announced plans to procure 10,000 body bags to assist with recovery efforts.
