CARACAS, Venezuela — An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck Venezuela’s western coast Wednesday, causing noticeable building sway in Caracas.
The U.S. Geological Survey located the epicenter approximately 28 kilometers (17 miles) west of Moron, a coastal community, at a depth of 13 kilometers.
Residents in Caracas fled structures experiencing significant motion during the seismic event.
No immediate casualty reports or material damage have been confirmed by official sources.
