The termination of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) by President Donald Trump is creating additional obstacles for humanitarian assistance in Venezuela following devastating earthquakes, according to Christopher Sabatini, Latin America Programme Director at Chatham House. Sabatini observed that the current approach requires a complex multi‑agency coordination effort, whereas an existing agency could have delivered aid more efficiently.
