In professional wrestling, many retirements prove temporary. However, former WWE and TNA star Victoria has stated definitively that she will not return to the ring.
Lisa Maria Varon, known as Victoria in WWE and Tara in TNA, announced during a recent WhatNot stream that she has ended her wrestling career. “No, no. I retired. I retired,” Varon said. “My body hurts, you guys. I still do appearances, and WhatNot is my new favorite thing.”
Varon’s last match occurred in January 2023, when she teamed with Gisele Shaw to challenge Jessicka and Taya Valkyrie for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championships.
She had initially retired in 2019 but returned to compete in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble in WWE, lasting 7:15 minutes before being eliminated by Shayna Baszler.
Varon brought a background in cheerleading, bodybuilding, and fitness before entering pro wrestling. She began training with Ultimate Pro Wrestling in 2000, later working in Memphis, Ohio Valley Wrestling, and Heartland Championship Wrestling, before making her WWE debut on Sunday Night Heat in 2002.
She appeared at two WrestleManias, placing third—alongside Jazz—in a triple-threat match against Trish Stratus at WrestleMania XIX, and later defeating Molly Holly in a title-versus-hair match at WrestleMania XX. Varon worked on the WWE roster intermittently until 2009, then spent time with TNA until 2013. From 2013 to 2019, she performed primarily on the independent circuit while making occasional appearances for WWE and TNA.
Her accolades include two WWE Women’s Championships, five TNA Knockouts Championships, one TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship (with Brooke Tessmacher), and the Cauliflower Alley Club Women’s Wrestling Award in 2015.
