VICTORIA POLICE SECURE MAN AFTER AXE ATTACK LEAVES THREE PERSONS CRITICALLY INJURED

Three people were seriously wounded in an alleged axe attack in Victoria, prompting officers to launch a police hunt for the suspects.

According to a Victoria Police spokesperson, the perpetrator arrived at an address in Tyers, in the Gippsland region, around 12:30 pm on Saturday. He is believed to have targeted an elderly man, a woman, and a third individual with an axe, inflicting life‑threatening injuries that required immediate medical attention.

The suspected attackers, the responding officer added, matched the description of a man in his mid‑50s who fled the premises on foot after the incident.

All three victims were quickly attended to by an air ambulance and road paramedics before being transported to hospital where further evaluation took place.

A spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria reported that a man in his seventies and a man in his forties were admitted to hospital in critical condition.

One female victim, in her seventies, was taken to a facility in serious but stable condition, according to the same source.

Authority teams later observed the alleged offender leaving the area wearing a black and mustard‑coloured jacket and carrying a black backpack.

Police cautioned that the suspect may be armed with either an axe or a handsaw and issued a plea for the public to refrain from approaching the individual while contacting Triple Zero (000) with any concerns.

The man had previously been identified by the victims, leading to a city‑wide search that commenced the following day.

Investigators continue to seek leads regarding the identity and whereabouts of the suspect.
