Apple TV+ has firmly established itself as a premier destination for prestige science fiction. From the post-apocalyptic world of See and the alternate history of For All Mankind to the mind-bending thriller Severance, the streamer has cultivated a formidable genre lineup. That reputation reached new heights with the arrival of Pluribus, a series created by Vince Gilligan—the architect of Breaking Bad—and starring Rhea Seehorn of Better Call Saul fame.
The series debuted to massive viewership in 2025, quickly dethroning Severance as the most-watched sci-fi series in Apple TV+ history. That success secured an early renewal for a second season. Recently, during a podcast appearance, Gilligan offered the first concrete update on the production schedule, confirming that cameras are set to start rolling “in a couple of months.”
While Apple has not yet set an official premiere date, the production timeline offers a clear window for the show’s return. The first season required approximately nine months of principal photography. If Season 2 begins around November as indicated, filming would extend through August of the following year. Assuming a similar post-production schedule, the series would likely wrap in the third quarter of 2027, making an early 2028 launch the most probable scenario.
