Beyond securing bragging rights in Game 3 of the NLDS, the Los Angeles Dodgers became the center of an on-field controversy this past Tuesday night.

A supporter clad in a Yoshinobu Yamamoto jersey secured a foul ball during the game. A nearby spectator, filming the fan’s jubilant reaction, urged, “Give it to the kid! Give it to the kid!”

Turning toward the camera, the fan shrugged and responded, “I’m sorry, I can’t! I’m not giving it to the kid! I feel bad, but I’m not giving it to the kid!”

The footage then shifted to the child in question, dressed in an Atlanta Braves uniform with a visibly crestfallen expression.

The view returned to the Dodgers supporter, who appeared to be gloating over the catch before pausing for a photograph with it.

The clip spread rapidly online, with one X repost accumulating more than 2.6 million views within approximately 12 hours. The original TikTok upload has since approached one million views.

The incident has ignited a broader discussion regarding whether adult attendees are expected to surrender souvenirs caught during play to children. Proponents of the catcher’s right argue that a legitimate acquisition should not warrant public censure, while others maintain that adult fans should be willing to donate their catches to younger supporters.

This particular Dodgers supporter evidently sided with the former perspective.
