Harry Wilson has been recalled to the Wales squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Norway and Portugal, alongside a first-time call-up for goalkeeper Joe Duncan.
As a key player for Wales in recent years, Wilson’s absence since March due to injuries has been felt, but his return is a significant boost for the team.
Leeds United teammate Joe Rodon also makes a return to the squad, having been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury.
Cardiff City’s Rubin Colwill is recalled to the squad, but midfielder Jordan James will miss out due to an injury sustained during Wolves’ match against Cardiff City last Saturday.
The sole new face in the squad is 20-year-old goalkeeper Duncan, currently on loan at National League club Southend United from Championship side Bristol City.
Although born in Bristol, Duncan qualifies for Wales through his maternal grandfather from Cardiff and has previously played for the Wales Under-21 team. He replaces Everton’s Tom King in the senior squad.
Wales aim to maintain their status in the top tier of the Nations League, with upcoming matches against Norway in Oslo on Saturday, November 14, followed by a home fixture against Portugal on Tuesday, November 16.
Currently third in Group A4, Wales’ only victory in four matches was against Norway, who reached the World Cup quarter-finals, in Cardiff last month.
Under manager Craig Bellamy, Wales still have the potential to finish in second, third, or fourth position in the group.
Securing a top-two finish would qualify Wales for the Nations League quarter-finals in March 2027.
A third-place finish would lead to a relegation play-off against a League B team in March. Conversely, finishing at the bottom of the group could result in either a play-off or direct relegation, contingent on rankings across other League A groups.
