Turnstile debuted on Saturday Night Live last night (October 3), performing the track “Birds” and a medley that included “I Care” and “Dull.” View the footage below.
The Baltimore-based group appeared as musical guests on the second episode of the show’s 52nd season, which was hosted by Dakota Johnson.
During their first performance, Brendan Yates and the band delivered a powerful rendition of “Birds,” a heavy track from their fourth album, “Never Enough.”

Later in the episode, Turnstile returned to perform two songs consecutively, beginning with the dreamy “I Care” before transitioning into “Dull.”

The appearance followed the band’s performance at Austin City Limits in Texas the previous night and marked a significant milestone after the June 2023 release of “Never Enough.”
“Birds” earned the Grammy for Best Metal Performance in February, and “Never Enough” was awarded Best Rock Album.
After the Grammy wins, Turnstile publicly addressed what they called a “heightened state of violence” worldwide.
Turnstile said, “We’re existing in a time of heightened state violence,” and added, “We are watching people be pushed out of their homes here in America, in Palestine, in Sudan, in Iran, everywhere, as if they don’t belong to them. As if we don’t belong to each other.”
Later, during an interview with NME at the BRIT Awards, Yates emphasized the responsibility of artists to use their platforms, stating, “Artists serve as a mirror to reflect what’s happening in the world.”
NME gave “Never Enough” a five‑star review, commending its “heartfelt hardcore poptimism” and describing it as a continuation of the band’s “vibrant eccentricity.”
In August, they released “Never Enough: Versions,” a full reworking of the album that features collaborators such as Elton John, Hayley Williams, Blood Orange, A.G. Cook, Julien Baker, Four Tet, and Slayyyter.
Turnstile’s SNL appearance followed KATSEYE’s debut on the previous week’s season premiere, and Rosalía is scheduled to perform as musical guest next Saturday (October 10) when Shane Gillis hosts the show.
